I never knew Mendel might have cooked his data. Kind of crazy since he's one of the biggest names in all genetics 101 classes. I will say though that linked traits only occur when the genes on the same chromosome are close enough together. When far enough away on the same chromosome, the frequency of them being linked is so small that it doesn't have a significant effect on inheritance.
Also, that song you wrote is award winning stuff.
