In Marine Ecology
- Ecology and conservation of coral reefs, mangroves and river systems
- Aquaculture studies on giant clams, mollusks and fishes
- Captive breeding of Philippine crocodiles
Ramon C. Barba
In Plant Physiology
- Development of mango flower induction technology
- Rapid propagation of tissue culture of sugar cane, rattan and banana
- Development of seedless Kalamansi or lime
Emerita V. De Guzman
In Plant Morphogenesis
- Spearheaded the University of Philippines Los Banos team which made a breakthrough in research on propagation of mutant coconut, locally known as "Makapuno"
- Also did tissue culture techniques for rapid propagation of abaca and banana
Pedro B. Escuro
In Plant Genetics or Rice Breeding
- Gained international recognition for developing the drawf, high yeilding C4 rice varieties which are now being grown in Burma, Thailand and the African countries
Eduardo A. Quisumbing
In Plant Systematics Taxonomy and Morphology
- Known as the "father of Philippine Orchidology"
- Also did remarkable researches on Philippine bananas, pepper and some medicinal plants
Dioscoro S. Rabor
In Philippine Wildlife Biology
- Published numerous scientific papers on wildlife, particularly on birds, mammals and reptiles
- Discovered or co-discovered new species of a local flying squirrel, two mammals, a lizard and some birds
Carmen C. Velasquez
In Parasitology
- Conducted several researches on parasitic worms, especially fish parasites, which provided rich materials for her book entitled Digeneric Trematodes of Philippines Fishes
Gregorio T. Velasquez
In Phycology
- Internationally acclaimed phycologist who produced about 45 basic researches and some 70 articles on algae which were published in both local and foreign scientific journals
Benito S. Vergara
In Plant Physiology
- A recognized authority in rice science, he authored the widely published book "A Farmer's Primer on Growing Rice", which has 35 translated editions, published in 30 languages of Asia, Africa, and Latin America and editions in 20 other languages in progress
Prescillano M. Zamora
In Plant Morphology, Anatomy and Taxonomy
- Published articles on the ecology, morphology and taxonomy of some crop plants, ferns, gymnosperms and mangroves
- Spearheaded the project on the inventory of endangered, rare and endemic species of flora and fauna.
Flordeliz R. Uyenco
In Microbiology
- An exemplary science professor and researcher, held the distinguished position of Curator of the ASEAN Microbiological Center at University of the Philippines Natural Science Research Institute
- Worked on Biomass Production of Microbial Protein from Some Agricultural Wastes
William G. Padolina
In Biotechnology
- Multi-awarded in the field of Science and Technology as a teacher and administrator
- Recognized for his leadership, promotion and excellent pioneering researches in biotechnology and chemistry of natural products
