Biography

Vanessa Rousso is an American professional poker player from Miami, Florida. She is considered one of the best female poker players in the field with more than $3 million in lifetime tournament winnings and a status of a Team PokerStars Pro to back up her reputation.

Intro

Rousso’s almost always played poker during her life, but didn’t get serious about it until her late teens. Although she was too young to play in casinos, Rousso took to the virtual felt. She played online until she was of age to play at the casinos. Rousso played a lot in her spare time and worked on her game. She built up her bankroll and began taking shots at larger tournaments. In 2005, she entered the live tournament circuit and cashed in the $1,000 Ladies Only event at the WSOP and also in Atlantic City at the WSOP Circuit event.

Background

Today Vanessa Rousso is no doubt one of the most successful women in poker. She boasts career winnings of over $3.5 million from all across the globe, but it hasn’t always been about poker for Vanessa. She attended Duke University and graduated with a degree in economics. She was on the Dean’s list and graduated after only two and a half years. From there, she attended the University of Miami School of Law where she was one of the top members in her class.

World Series of Poker

Rousso first cashed in a World Series event in 2005 when she finished 45th in the $1,000 Ladies Event for $1,640. Then in 2006 she cashed in three more WSOP events with her best result being the eighth place finish in the $5,000 Short Handed No-Limit Hold'em even for just over $60,000. A few years later, in 2010 Rousso repeated her best WSOP achievement placing eight in the $10,000 Heads Up Championship, this time collecting over $90,000 in prize money. Then in 2011 Rousso scored her best WSOP result to date after final tabling the €5,000 No-Limit Hold'em / Six Max Turbo event at the World Series of Poker Europe in Cannes, France. She ended up placing third in that tournament for a cash prize of more than €40,000.
