This is my new summarized biography that will replace the previous text of my web page. Before sending it for upgrade, I wanted to share with all of you first.
"The voice of Joaquín Pixán spoke with deep accents of his native Asturias and from many other lyrical and poetic worlds. Not in vain, carries with it the imprint of his training in the Scala of Milan where took as teachers as the legendary soprano Gina Cigna, among others, and also the magisterium of Alfredo Kraus, with whom he studied vocal technique and interpretation.
Honorary member of the Club Tosti by his recording of the works of the Italian composer, shares this distinction with legends of the bel canto as Renata Tebaldi or Raina Kabaivanska.
Pixán combines classicism and innovation and is, no doubt, a rare artist by their way of understanding the singing and the management of music. With his voice is converted into a "thrill seeker" that investigates, discusses new and original territories in which unite the lyrical and poetry in a good number of single projects on the Spanish music scene as the works devoted to the poets Angel Gonzalez, Ramon Cabanillas, Rosalia de Castro, Pablo García Baena or María Lejárraga.
It has a particular sensitivity to the hour of rescue and put in value the song of concert for voice and piano, in many cases with works of new invoice, bringing in new bibliography at the Spanish music scene, a task in which has accompanied him in a multitude of concerts and recordings the excellent pianist Alejandro Zabala.
With he has shared long hours of study and work in the mutual interest of go beyond the usual musical terrain, exploring and discovering little travelled works, but full of beauty and innovative musical languages; recovered or even entrusted to various composers such as Antón García Abril, Félix Sierra, Jorge Muñiz, Milena Perisic or Zulema de la Cruz, among others.
It is also a cultural manager in all its extension, since it generates its own space to carry out such projects that drives from the birth of the idea until the presentation of the work. This way of dealing with its long musical career has taken him to collaborate with names as well-known as Monserrat Caballe, or directors as Jesus Lopez Cobos, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Miguel Roa, Benito Lauret, David Hill or Oliver Diaz.
However, Pixán has also sought to tackle sometimes popular themes and even land as the copla or the pasodoble - so imbricated in the zarzuela, in which has left a mark threshing lyrical notes and knowledge of deep emotional stall.
It is, therefore, an artist of many facets that will not forget - quite the contrary - its origins: the cycle of songs "Mother Asturias" composed by Antón García Abril and recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra - directed by Jesús López Cobos- in the Legendary Abbey Road Studios, was a milestone in the traditional asturian music and is an indication of its interest in the traditions and culture of their native land.
The figure of the politician and writer Asturian Jovellanos gave rise to another important and original work of the tenor, with texts of the poet and the Cervantes Award 2006 Antonio Gamoneda and music of Jorge Muñiz, together with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias directed by Oliver Diaz.
And perhaps one of the most ambitious initiatives of Joaquín Pixan - as is also a work of authorship- is "a Asturian songbook for the twenty-first century" in which it again his traveling companion is Antonio Gamoneda. Both addressed in this work a job, to say of many historic, because it represents a new concept of the texts and the traditional asturian music.
More than 30 recordings, countless concerts in Spain and abroad, accompanied by rock formations such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, of the RTVE Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Madrid, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias, the Symphonic Orchestra of Oviedo or the Malaga Philharmonic, give an idea of the trajectory of Joaquín Pixán and his tireless concern cultural and artistic activities at the service of music."

Esta es mi nueva biografía resumida que sustituirá el anterior texto de mi página web. Antes de enviarla para su actualización, quería compartirla con todos vosotros primero.
"La voz de Joaquín Pixán habla con hondos acentos de su Asturias natal y de otros muchos mundos líricos y poéticos. No en vano, lleva en ella la impronta de su formación en la Scala de Milán en la que tuvo como maestros a la legendaria soprano Gina Cigna, entre otros, y también el magisterio de Alfredo Kraus, con quien estudió técnica vocal e interpretación. Miembro honorario del Club Tosti por su grabación de las obras del compositor italiano, comparte esta distinción con leyendas del bel canto como Renata Tebaldi o Raina Kabaivanska.
Pixán aúna clasicismo e innovación y es, no cabe duda, un artista poco frecuente por su manera de entender el canto y la gestión musical. Con su voz se convierte en un “buscador de emociones” que investiga, aborda nuevos y originales territorios en lo que se unen la lírica y la poesía en un buen número de proyectos únicos en el panorama musical español como las obras dedicadas a los poetas Ángel González, Ramón Cabanillas, Rosalía de Castro, Pablo García Baena o María Lejárraga.
Posee una especial sensibilidad a la hora de rescatar y poner en valor la canción de concierto para voz y piano, en muchos casos con obras de nueva factura, aportando nueva bibliografía al panorama musical español, tarea en la que le ha acompañado en multitud de conciertos y grabaciones el excelente pianista Alejandro Zabala. Con él ha compartido largas horas de estudio y trabajo en el mutuo interés de ir más allá de los terrenos musicales habituales, explorando y descubriendo obras poco transitadas, pero llenas de belleza y lenguajes musicales novedosos; recuperadas o incluso encargadas a diversos compositores como Antón García Abril, Félix Sierra, Jorge Muñiz, Milena Perisic o Zulema de la Cruz, entre otros.
Es, además, un gestor cultural en toda su extensión, ya que genera su propio espacio para llevar a cabo esos proyectos que impulsa desde el nacimiento de la idea hasta la presentación de la obra. Esta manera de afrontar su larga carrera musical le ha llevado a colaborar con nombres tan conocidos como Monserrat Caballé, o directores como Jesús López Cobos, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Miguel Roa, Benito Lauret, David Hill o Oliver Díaz.
No obstante, Pixán también ha querido abordar en ocasiones temas populares e incluso terrenos como el de la copla o el pasodoble –tan imbricado en la zarzuela-, en el que ha dejado una impronta lírica desgranado notas y saberes de hondo calado emocional.
Es, pues, un artista de múltiples facetas que no olvida -todo lo contrario- sus orígenes: el ciclo de canciones “Madre Asturias” compuestas por Antón García Abril y grabadas con la Orquesta Filarmónica de Londres -dirigida por Jesús López Cobos- en los míticos estudios Abbey Road, supuso un hito en la música asturiana y es una muestra de su interés por las tradiciones y la cultura de su tierra natal.
La figura del político y escritor asturiano Jovellanos dio lugar a otro importante y original trabajo del tenor, con textos del poeta y Premio Cervantes 2006 Antonio Gamoneda y música de Jorge Muñiz, junto a la Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias dirigida por Oliver Díaz.
Y quizá una de las iniciativas más ambiciosas de Joaquín Pixan -ya que supone también una obra de autoría- es la de “Un Cancionero Asturiano para el siglo XXI” en la que de nuevo su compañero de viaje es Antonio Gamoneda. Ambos abordan en esta obra un trabajo, a decir de muchos histórico, ya que supone un nuevo concepto de los textos y la música tradicional asturiana.
Más de 30 grabaciones, innumerables conciertos por España y el extranjero, acompañado por formaciones como la London Philarmonic Orchestra, la English Chamber Orchestra, la Orquesta de RTVE, la Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, la Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, la Orquesta Sinfónica de Oviedo o la Filarmónica de Málaga, dan una idea de la trayectoria de Joaquín Pixán y de su infatigable inquietud cultural y artística al servicio de la música."
