How Triglycerides are Mobilized from the Adipose Tissue [Video]
In this biochem video I discuss about the mobilization of triglycerides from storage. I make it a step by step process because I think it is easier to understand it that way.
In brief:
- In the lipid droplet TAGs are hydrolized into DAGs and fatty acids
- DAGs => MAGs and fatty acids
- MAGs => fatty acids and glycerol
A series of lipases allow for these processes to take place. Fatty acids can then leave the adipocyte and be carried bound to albumin in the blood to tissues where they will be oxidized.
