He published his first short story when he was 24 years old and began writing poetry when he was 35 years old. In 1959 he published his first poetry book.Bukowski continued to write, publishing more than 45 books, including poetry, short stories and novels.His work deals with the ordinary lives of the poor, working, alcohol, relationships with women and others. Charles Bukowski was born to his parents Henry Bukowski, a German American in the US Army after World War I, who remained in Germany after the war, and his mother Katarina.His grandfather, Leonardo Bukowski, immigrated to America from the German Empire in 1880.The couple had four children, one of whom was Charles Henry's father, who later became an officer in the United States Army in Germany. Following the defeat of the Germans in 1918, Henry became a construction contractor. He made a big profit and moved to live with his family in Pavavendorov. It was bad after the war. Henry was unable to earn a living, so he decided to move his family to the United States on April 23, 1923, moved across the sea and settled in Maryland.In 1930, the family moved to downtown Los Angeles, where Henry had lived and worked.Charles spoke English but with a strong German accent. After his father became unemployed, he abused his son and beat him, which gave rise to extreme fear and shame, and later became depressed and appeared in his poems.Charles graduated from Los Angeles High School, then attended Los Angeles City College for two years, with courses in art, journalism and literature.
