Binance Downtime: A Web Developer's Perspective

Currently it appears to me that routine maintenance and upgrades did not deploy according to plan and caused some data syncing issues across their distributed servers.

Why did the initial upgrade announcement say this process will only take an hour if it is actually taking longer?
They announced the time that it should take if everything went according to plan. However, the devops team at Binance ran into an issue during the deployment of their new updates and in turn have to deal with unforeseen technical issues which require them to resync databases across servers.

I saw a large number of tweets from people claiming foul play and that Binance was hacked because they were down longer than they announced. These claims are false and unsubstantiated. Downtime is a normal part of running a website.
