It was recorded the five of them were foolish and the other five were wise. What does it mean to be foolish? It means being unintelligent or unwise. There are many definitions to the word "foolish", but lets go with these. Now being wise of course is the opposite of being foolish, so the meaning of the "word" wise will be being intelligent and wise. Now what makes five of the virgins either foolish or wise?

All of them knew they were going to meet the bridegroom, just that they didn't know when He'll arrive. The 'foolish' ones took with them their lamps but I guess they forgot, or didn't think it was necessary to take any extra oil with them. Did you see how unwise they were there? Like I said, they knew the bridegroom was coming, but didn't know when. Why didn't they think about what will happen to their lamps if He comes late? Lets hold on first...

The wise ones on the other hand took extra oil in jars along with their lamps. Why did these people remember to take extra oil along? They were wise. They saw beyond the 'now' that they were. Guyz, the ability to see beyond our peers is what differentiates us from others. When you talk anywhere and they see you have a vision ahead, people will respect you and call you 'intelligent'. I hope you grab that.

Now, the bridegroom came back after a long time, and by then, they were all already drowsy and then they fell asleep.

Just like a thief in the night, the bridegroom arrived and there was a loud noise:

‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

Then all these virgins woke up and took up their lamps. By that time, the lamps already went dim. The foolish ones now had to beg the wise ones to please give them some of their oil because their lamps are going out. Of course they responded 'No' because they knew that if they give to them, there may not be enough for both parties. They even advised them to go to those who sell oil outside and buy some for themselves. Wow

But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. Whoopss. They couldn't continue and couldn't go back at the same time, they must have been stuck at the middle of the road. The virgins who were already ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And then the door was shut. Eeya...

Later they got back and were knocking the door for the bridegroom to open for them, but it was already too late. Too too late.

This story is what happens in the everyday life. There are so many things we don't take cognisance of and we think we can patch things together. Even in our wisdom, we should strife to get understanding.
It is important for us to therefore, keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour that our own bridegroom will come. It can be in form of anything. If we are wise, we should be able to code that.
