The man was a living hell for my friend. This my friend, tall and lanky, was dating the man's daughter.

Repeatedly, the man would share stories with my friend's father, how irresponsible my friend was, and threatened to cut off his male sexual appendage if he didn't leave his daughter.

Love was in the air. And the girl often sent my friend to high heavens.

"egetex, I won't leave her. Even if her father likes, let him break my skull. Baba this babe good die."

"Well, I'll take care of serving food at your burial."

"Who? You? Egetex please don't attend my burial, I won't be happy to see you standing beside my babe please."

We laughed.

He worked a part time job as a hotel receptionist in another town to raise money for his studies abroad.

That particular evening, he saw the father of his girlfriend walk into the hotel in the company of a young unknown lady.

He smiled.

"Welcome to our hotel Sir."

He needed to keep it professional.

The man was lost for words.

"Hello my son...sorry receptionist. Where's Egetex, that your crazy friend. Very funny guy."

"I don't know who you're talking about Sir. And I don't think I've meet you before."

The man smiled. He believed my friend coded him.

He booked his room and later came down to the reception area that night.

"My boy, what's up?"

My friend called him "My Father-in-law."

The man laughed real hard.

"Relax my boy. I know you like my daughter. Just make sure you don't break her heart. Infact you can break her heart, I will give her money to mend it."

Both men stood in silence for some seconds.

The man spoke first.

"Hope this thing will be a secret between us?"

My friend nodded.

That ended his harassment towards my friend and his girlfriend.

At their wedding two years after, the father-in-law thanked my friend for saving his marriage.

Nobody understood why he said that except my friend.

Both men are now best of friends.

Talk about having a leverage.
