TRENDY HAIRDO FOR LADIES
image
Source: Google

  • Ghana weaving: this never goes out of style, new styles come out every now and then, sometimes old styles are modified to a more chic look.

  • Faux locs: this I call "kiko that studied abroad". It is the traditional threading that got modified. Faux locs are made by wrapping your hair with attachment, Brazilian wool, baby wool or whatever else catches your fancy. They are accessorized with hair rings and metal beads. image

  • Weavons: I don't see this going out of style any time soon. The u-parts, lace closure and even the invisible parts. This gives you the chic look anytime and also protects your hair. This is especially good for naturals. From razor cuts to full bangs to Bob, you look on point with weaves. image

  • Fulani braids: this style came back to town about two years ago and we can't get enough of it....there are different varieties but most have a single cornrow in the middle and lots of bead everywhere. image

  • Crotchet: this came out sometime in 2012 but believe me, it has come to stay. Considering the speed of installation and ease of maintenance, this is the go to style.

TRENDY HAIRCUTS FOR GUYS

  • Box fade cut: trendy since the 1980s and still very much in style

  • Mini afro: this looks especially good on guys with low frontals, it balances out the shape of the head. It's lesser stressful to maintain than a full Afro.

  • Low sided cut: trendy for years and not backing down. It's the official look of most corporate men. It takes away years from your age and makes you look younger. Add a suit and you are good to go. It goes well with beards too.

THAIRAPY ROOM

Today, we'll be treating excessive hair break/fall.
What do you do when this happens?

  • You need eggs! Eggs and olive oil and honey does a great job, whisk it all together and apply to your hair, cover for about 30 minutes. Wash out..repeat this routine weekly, you are fine!

  • Moisture is important too, add it, lock it in, don't lose it!

  • Don't forget the magic of coconut oil!

We'll bring more to you in subsequent episodes.

NATURALISTA HAVEN

We all know the pains of taking care of our natural hair. * First things first, moisture is your friend! Moisture, moisture, and more moisture!

  • Condition it regularly.
  • Butters are good for you. Shea butter is very common and also affordable.
  • Natural oils are your friend. Rosemary oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, etc...

On coming episodes we'll talk about different oils and their importance and usage.

FOODS YOU NEED TO EAT
image

  • Spinach
  • Salmon
  • Oatmeal
  • Guava
  • Liver and many more.
    If you haven't been eating these, you need to add them to your diet for better and healthy hair.

BEAUTY PRODUCTS

I have found these products really good for hair;

  • Hair wonder cream, oil shampoo and conditioner
  • Dudu osun soap as shampoo
  • Emily millionaire cream and shampoo.

We'll bring more of these products to you in coming episodes.

GUEST CORNER

We have a few questions for you.

@bookoons: How long have you been a naturalista?

@zizymena: I have been a naturalista for a year and six months now.

@bookoons: What prompted the move?

@zizymena: What prompted the move, well I have always admired naturalistas but it was difficult taking the bold step to become one because I had very long hair that was the envy of anyone that sees me then suddenly my hair started breaking and became so unhealthy. Perhaps it was a product I used, I just can't tell. I was no longer happy and so decided to go for the big chop.

@bookoons: Did you transition or started afresh?

@zizymena: I transitioned o. Starting afresh meant cutting off my hair completely and my boyfriend wouldn't let me to that so I had to go with transitioning. I cut it off after six months.

@bookoons: How's the journey so far?

@zizymena: Sincerely at first it was frustrating because I have to always make the hair and I'm someone that loves going around with my natural hair just to flaunt it ...lol. I had to get used to making it always and then the stress of combing it my goodness. Treatments for natural hair are so expensive but I don't regret it though. Now my hair is Fuller and has got weight. It's a matter of time.

@bookoons: What are your challenges?

@zizymena: My challenges is just getting a place where the hair can be well treated and buying the right product for the hair.

@bookoons: What advise do you have for new naturalistas and those planning to become one?

@zizymena: I will advise them to just go with it. There are lots of things you can do with your hair as a naturalista but make sure you have enough money for it because it is high cost maintenance.

@bookoons: thank you so much, you are bae

@zizymena: 🤗
