RE: Universal Basic Income? Yes or No?
I've thought about this issue a lot in 40-years. Most people want to frame the issue using false dichotomies and biased perspectives based on self-interest. Throwing debt-based funny money at people will not in and of itself solve much over the long term.
What's needed is a wide-span wholistic shift in civilizations' ethics and economic thinking. The best way to achieve that goal would be to call a debt-amnesty and start again with new and better rules and ideas. In religion, it's known as a Jubilee and is one of the most important and best ideas within the whole of spirituality. Unfortunately, we will get the opposite: 'economic incest' and its special privileges will continue to rule the times.
I'll get into wide span full-spectrum solutions if anyone is interested but cures are useless if one is not willing to honestly assess the disease...
