One argument for Biden beyond harm reduction (which, again, I respect and understand) is "saving democracy."

If Trump wins, so the logic goes, it's the end of democracy; we will have an open dictator supported by the entire GOP and almost certainly a corrupt Supreme Court.

I get this one too, to an extent. Still, it makes me wonder. If our choices are between "genocide" and "genocide plus," then democracy is already dead. Or, maybe, in this nation of slavers and colonizers and blood-soaked monsters, it was dead on arrival, and all our hopes across the centuries mount to nothing more than the twitches of a corpse. Or, maybe, this really is democracy, and it's a fucking nightmare, and all the horrors this nation have unleashed spring from the will of a degenerate, hateful breed of human beings lurching from one human rights catastrophe to the next, too busy scalping and selling and chasing after their every base desire to even stop and look at the demons they've become, too drunk with blood and stolen riches to see the Devil himself laughing at them from the other side of their stained glass windows.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to be saving, beyond the right to choose which person, which party, gets to drown Mexican immigrants and start another land war in Asia. What else is there? What else has there ever been?
