Fall published a biography of Biden this week, "The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden's White House and the Struggle for America's Future." In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Media" program on the 3rd, he said, "You don't need Woodward to understand that Biden is old." Bob Woodward is the Washington Post reporter who exposed the "Watergate case". He is the same age as Biden, both 80 years old.

In his biography, Fall noted that Biden privately admitted feeling "tired" and worried about his age.

"I'm not a gerontologist to predict how Biden will age in the next few years," Fall said.

Asked by the moderator if Biden might drop out of the race, he said, "I'd be surprised if he did, but not too surprised."
