A lot of people just bid $0.1 so if you bid $0.6 and 5 people bid $0.10 you'll get more than half the output and it's worth it. Last I used it it voted every 36 minutes so check the wallet and steemd.com and you can see how many people bid since it last voted. Then, bid appropriately to try to get a good chunk of the payout.
