STUDY MEDITATE OBEY!

The Bible, God's word is a unique book, despite the fact that it was written thousands of years ago, it's sayings are timeless, and still very much relevant for our day
But how can we benefit from it?
In Joshua 1:8, there God told Joshua that for his reign to be successful, he should take time to read, meditate and obey the words of the law (the bible).

Three (3) steps are mentioned in that scripture. We will be considering these steps-
READ
To read means to look at and comprehend the meaning of a written or printed material, so as to understand ( dictionary.com). We can read over and over again, so as to discern what the scripture is saying. We need to make research too, using bible study aids. An in-depth study is required . As regards the bible, we need God's guidance and holy spirit to enable us to understand. So before starting our bible study , we need to pray to God to use his holy spirit to help us gain the understanding of what we are reading ( John 14:26).

MEDITATE
To meditate means to ponder and think deeply about what we have read or learnt. To aid our meditation, we can ask ourselves these questions-

1. What can i learn from this scripture?
2. How can it help me to buiĺd my relationship with God?
   3.How can it help me do God's will better?
   4.How can it help me improve my relationship with my neighbours?
   These questions can help us draw out the meaning of our study.
   God told Joshua, to meditate day and night, that goes to tell us that,the time we meditate matters. Some persons might choose to the early hours of the morning , when it's still calm and quiet to meditate, while others might do it at night (psalms 63:6, Gen 24:63) depending on our circumstance

OBEY
To obey means "to act on" or "put to practice "what we have read. This step is very important, your reading and meditation will be futile if you don't obey or practice what you read. We should walk the talk, it should be seen in our everyday lives, that we are true christians. Not reading or preaching one thing, then doing the opposite. God values obedience (1Sam 15:22).
It is not always easy to obey, but with prayer and help from God, we can obey God's instructions as found in the bible. Joshua did follow God's law, and his reign was successful, likewise other faithful men and women in the bible.
We too today, can borrow a leaf from these faithful ones, by reading, meditating and obeying God's instructions as spelt out in the Bible, then ,we too will be successful.
