Hello everyone...I wanted to do a couple of posts on some of the differences between the KJV and the NIV. I'm posting these because I was surprised just how many differences there were and when I found these I thought I would share them with all of you!

It is startling the differences between the NIV and KJV. Mark 7:19 is my personal favorite:
The Greek text does not have the words "body", "saying", "declared" or "Jesus". How the modern editors could manufacture that is beyond me.
@ironshield
YES my friend this a VERY GOOD example of what I am talking about!!!! Thanks for leaving this comment! This is one of the ones that I discovered as well and was shocked, in the beginning, but now as I have seen more I am not as surprised anymore!
Lots of differences between bibles.
Way more than I expected. Part 2 should be out later today!
I use the ESV, only because it’s easier to read than the KJV, although I do have that one as well. I don’t understand why they remove some of the verses?! Crazy.
My go to bible is the New King James, makes it easier to read and leaves in a lot of what the NIV/ESV cuts out. It is not perfect of course but I found it to be much better than those other two and if I was to recommend a version that is what I would go with, the NKJV.
As to why the removed some of the verses, well there are many theories. I feel some was done on purpose so that verses go along with the doctrines of denominations because they would not want to leave some verses in that shows that they are wrong. Now I can't say that every time there was evil intent behind it and again this is just my opinion. You also have to remember that to sell a book there has to be enough differences between that one and another book. Basically you can't sell two different bibles that don't have enough differences between them.
When the KJV was translated it was around 1611. Do you know how many denominations were around at that time? NOT MANY because the protestant reformation was just getting started! You basically had Catholicism. The purpose of the KJV was so that the common people could read the bible for themselves for the first time in history!
The NIV was not published until 1978 and the ESV was not published until 2001.
howdy there @simms50 again! I've heard Biblical scholars explain why some things were removed but I couldn't understand them, do you know why?
Please read my response to @hebrewhousewife , I think I answered your question there! I also want to point out @ironshield's comment. The translators, like I said before, put in information to better align with their doctrine and not the doctrine of God! They added that information in and now when most people read their bible and come to verses like that they think it scripture but it is not it is commentary put in by the translators! God says NOT to do this.... Deuteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. "
yeah I know there are quite a few mistranslations. thanks for the information and links! going there now!
