The First 4 words of the Bible....

Reading from Right to Left:

B'Reishit Bara Elohim (et) ....

In Beginning Created God, the heavens and the Earth.

These are the Original Hebrew words of the 1st Book of Genesis in the Bible.

With my poor Aramaic I used to read this as Bar Ish (et) bara Elohim ... Son of Man Created God- especially since I am so intrigued by this character The Son of Man from the Parables in the Book of Enoch

Sort:

Throughout the Torah, the verb comes first followed by who did that action. The next word would be "et" signifying what Elohim created. I believe the direct objects of the creation were the heavens and the land ('eretz').

I am so glad you are studying this and I look forward to your insights.

I have been studying for years but get bogged down in so much symbolism. I became friends with Aramaic Scholar Professor Daniel Matt who just finished his 12 Volume Translation of the Sefer ha Zohar for the Pritzker Family.... we have had many discussions of the word "et"

I could spend my entire life trying to decipher the significance of the 1st 42 letters of The Torah

Understandable.

I have spent years studying the Sefer Ha Bahir and the Sefer Yetzirah .... Abraham abulafia and Moses Cordovero but nobody comes close to the simple teaching of Jesus the Nazarene.

So true. The simplicity that surpasses all time and all culture. "Seed scattered on the path, on the thorns, on the rocky ground and on the good soil" anyone still understand what might grow?

The Spirit of God grows - and that Spirit of God is Within You.

My understanding is that the oldest version of the Torah had no spacing between words .... whoever created the spaces created the words

From Ivan Panin's work on gen 1:1.
