BIBLE STORIES # 47 - Shameful execution

Jesus was led to the Roman ruler, but he did not find any guilt and wanted to let him go. But the pissed Pharisees and the Jewish priests decided at all costs to destroy Him. They found false witnesses and vied with each other that he insulted God and called the people to revolt.

The Roman Pontius Pilate, who then ruled the Jews, wanted to set Him free in honor of the Passover, but the priests persuaded the crowd, and the people began to shout:

"Execution, His execution!"

Pilate became frightened and released the robber Barabbas, and Jesus ordered to be executed.
Roman soldiers long mocked the condemned Jesus, and then led to a shameful execution. Jesus had to be crucified: nail for hands and feet to the wooden cross and leave to die a painful death. Such terrible execution executed at that time robbers and slaves. The condemned man himself had to bear a heavy cross to the place of the crucifixion.

Jesus was crucified next to two thieves. Above his head, he hung a sign with the inscription: "Jesus of Nazareth, the Jewish King."

At the cross stood many of those who followed Jesus. Among them was his mother, who was heartbroken.

Jesus was greatly tormented. He groaned and prayed to the Father. But here came a terrible moment. Jesus cried aloud for the last time ... and died. At this time the earth was shrouded in darkness, the stones shook and shattered. Seeing this, the Roman soldiers were horrified, and the disciples, distraught with grief, wandered about the houses ...
