Daily bible reading: "If we died with him, we will also live with him", 2 Timothy 2:11.

The bible explains that to die to the flesh is to be born of the spirit; just as Jesus died for us, we have to die to the things of the world, Paul in the second letter to Timothy expresses this teaching of Jesus with a metaphor: "Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him.", 2 Timothy 2:11-12.

A nature is towards what the being tends in its development, the nature of the worm is the butterfly, the nature of the seed is the tree that bears fruit. In the development of man towards his nature there is a second birth (Gnosis), this new birth of the spirit makes us children of God, children of the light. Jesus calls us to the new life, we leave behind a life full of sins, that is, we die to the flesh and accept the new life with Christ, the eternal life, the knowledge of God. The rational man (Philia), the old man gives rise to the spiritual man (Agape), the new man.
Jesus in the Gospel of John describes to Nicodemus, who is a doctor of the Law of Moses, what this new birth consists of:
"Now there was a Pharisee,a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said: "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him".
Jesus replied: "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again".
How can someone be born when they are old? Nicodemus asked.
Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!
Jesus answered: "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying: "You must be born again". The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the spirit". John 3:1-8
