Dear Steemit friends,

months back i'd invested in the Tezos ICO with a small amount of Ether with 20% bonus and a dollar price per Tezzie (XTZ) of about 42 dollar cent. Tezos made the news with a record crowdsale of $232 million dollar. It is called one blockchain of the 3rd generation with the following selling points:

• innovate platform over time without hard forks
• own blockchain
• proof-of-stake consensus algorithm

but the major claim is the following:

• self-amending ledger, not just rules for validity of transactions, also control of the rules own evolution (whatever that could be, i don't know exactly)

It is said that smart contracts can be much easier written with the used languages in comparison to Solidity by Ethereum. But the competition with Ethereum is a big challenge and there is also EOS on the brink to flood the market with dapps.

Silence creates Mystery

After the ICO it was quite silent for me and then i checked from time to time the current state of the project and always found scarce and scattered information. Unluckily they have some infight in the organisation with multiple lawsuits running which hopefully will be cleared at some point.

Last time i saw more often a few Vlogs by Arthur Breitman as technical lead itself but with hard to understand information for a non-programmer. One of the more understandable below from Dezember 15th which i discovered today.. but i recommend the second video to get a look from a user perspective with current use cases of the Tezos ecosystem below:

When mainnet is about to launch?

Probably mainnet launches in February 2018 with official trading of Tezzies on exchanges. Interesting was also the price spike of XTZ from the ICO price to over $12 recently. If you think of the mentioned 42 dollar cents from ICO that would be a 28 bagger (Peter Lynch style). This circumstance make Tezos even more mysterious.

But the Tezos mainnet didn't launched yet, where the prices come from?

The prices are for futures on exchanges called IOU - "i owe you" like HitBTC, Bitmex, Changelly and Uquid Credit Cards. To me that's a crazy financial instrument which i'll not use.. no not even touch with pincers! 😁

As i understand these price estimates are an illusion of the value for each Tezzie respective project and the first real valuation starts with exchanges maybe in February 2018.

Conclusion

After looking at the resources for some time i was at least surprised about the active community around, but i don't know exactly how Tezos will work out or compete with Ethereum. Maybe it gives value to the whole crypto space with the new approach and maybe it also helps Ethereum to evolve. Time is crucial for any project, the longer it takes to run the mainnet the less probable it could be to take market share IF you have not a far superior technology which could disrupt everything. That are just my thoughts and i'm excited to watch the project in 2018.
