A Token Based Podcast/Show + Community
An idea. Could make it. Thoughts?
Blockchain Radio
Blockchain Radio (name very much up for discussion) is an hour long podcast/radio show which explores the philosophy, politics, economics, technology, utility, progress, history, news, and potential of blockchain technology. Its principal priorities are education and community building. It targets new to advanced users by staying away from specific projects and focusing instead on general questions raised by blockchain technology. When fully operational, the content of the show will be decided by the episode hosts who will be chosen through an automated community process via tokens.
Hosts
Blockchain Radio is hosted by trusted community members based on a TBD tokenization structure. The host(s) has complete control over their own episode. Episodes could be single person monologues, a group of hosts of any number, a host and a guest, a group and a guest, or any type of panel. Shows could be debates, pure Q & A with the studio audience, discussions, or anything the host(s) desire.
Content
Blockchain Radio focuses on blockchain ideas, how they manifest in the blockchain ecosystem, and their effects on the blockchain ecosystem and society as a whole. While individuals from specific projects can serve as hosts or guests, hosts and guests are banned from advertising specific projects.
Production
Blockchain Radio is recorded within a 36 hour period once a week. It is recorded “in front of a live studio audience” on a VoIP service. The host decides on the audience’s level of interaction. It is the responsibility of the host to have the episode edited and uploaded within 120 hours (5 days) of recording.

Tokenization
I am still not intimate with tokens and their potential, so I look forward to hearing feedback regarding how I might tokenize this project. My main questions are rooted around: How are tokens “minted”? You borrow them into existence or ??? Can the process be automated? Please forgive my ignorance = ).
Perhaps tokens are burned to host a show.
Tokens could be rewarded to hosts based on data regarding viewership, audience retention and attention, and dozens of other variables.
Tokens could be rewarded to editors for editing shows.
Hosts could be penalized for advertising products.
Audience members could submit tokens to addresses which correlate with panelists/debaters and the winner of that “poll” could be rewarded tokens.
Etc.
Implementation/Timeline
Blockchain Radio is expected to take 12 months of exploration, experimentation, and planning to come to fruition. The journey begins with the starter show, "Placeholder". Placeholder will transition into Blockchain Radio using the following roadmap as a guide.
First year:
First quarter - Placeholder: The first three months will be an exploration of production format and general community building. Jringo will be the only host, though guests and panels will likely be assembled. Largely internal community building. These episodes may or may not be released – consider this phase a general interest meeting that focuses on making something.
- 2-6 Episodes
- 1-6 Interviews
Second quarter – Placeholder: The second three months will be used to polish structure and format, and to explore tokenization/value propositions. Jringo will begin to delegate hosting/management responsibilities and hopefully panels, groups, and hosts will begin to step forward. We reach out to the general crypto community. These are the first episodes guaranteed to be released.
- 3-6 Episodes
- 1-6 Interviews
Third quarter – Placeholder begins transition into Blockchain Radio: Format is solidified. Tokenization/host rotation structure is being refined. There are several hosts. We reach out to larger communities and begin to plan advertising and marketing campaigns. The roadmap for the next year is released.
- 6-12 Episodes
- 3-12 Interviews
Fourth quarter – Placeholder accelerates transition into BCR. Automation is implemented along with some form of temporary watchdog group. Outreach/advertising is significantly increased.
- 12 Episodes
- 3-12 Interviews
Year 2:
Q1 - BCR is officially launched.
The completed product is a weekly radio show at least an hour long which is hosted by trusted community members and defined by the community through use of tokens.
Expansion/Growth:
The Blockchain Radio Network:
Depending on the tokenization proposition, this model has the potential to expand into an automated community network which hosts a myriad of shows. Some examples: discuss specific projects in depth, interview developers regarding specific projects, tell stories of the blockchain, market data/speculation, music, anything that the community desires and the protocol allows.
What we need:
- Q1
- Audio Editors
- Intro
- Outro
- Location -- VoIP and episode hosting.
- Co-hosts/Interviewees/Panels
- Tokenization propositions
- Q2
- Social Media
- Website
- Managers/Moderators/Ops
- Developers
- Hosts
- Q3
- Marketing Proposals
- Operation Proposals
- Q4
- First phase funding
- Investor Outreach
- Q5
- Marketing plan
- Complete structural plan
- Q6
- Second phase funding
I think Radio-chain or Pod-chain might be cooler names for the project
We have a new, exciting and succssful radio station on mspwaves.com - part of the PAL/MSP network.
Perhaps we can stick our heads together..
i look forward to some productive conversations = )
Excellent! Thank you for bringing your project to the Whaletank!
