Nearly everyone loves music.

Thankfully, we are all different … and if you are like me, your music comes from all over the place.

Classical to Punk is my range.

But in that eclectic range are some lyrics which stay with you somehow. Here are some of my favourites.

What are yours?

My Number One:

“If Adolf Hitler flew in today, they’d send a Limousine, anyway.”

White Man in Hammersmith Palais, The Clash

“The Words of the Prophets are written on the Subway walls.”
The Sounds Of Silence, Simon and Garfunkel

“There’s no point in asking, you’ll get no reply”
Pretty Vacant, The Sex Pistols

“He took my childhood in his stride, but he was gone when autumn came.”
I Dreamed a Dream, Les Misérables.

“…the microphone smells like a beer …”
Piano Man, Billy Joel

“I was bruised and battered, I couldn't tell what I felt. I was unrecognisable to myself”
Streets of Philadelphia, Bruce Springsteen

“It's a death row pardon two minutes too late”
Ironic, Alanis Morissette

“If you leave me, can I come too?”
Mental as Anything

“On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair. Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air”
Hotel California, The Eagles

“Just a come-on from the whores on Seventh Avenue. I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome. I took some comfort there”
The Boxer, Simon and Garfunkel

“I sold my soul with my cigarettes to the black market man”
Khe Sahn, Cold Chisel

“Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon”
Only 19, Redgum

“And then you took the words right out of my mouth. Oh it must have been while you were kissing me.”
You took the words out of my mouth, Meat Loaf

“I am … I said. To no one there. And no one heard at all not even the chair.”
I am … I said, Neil Diamond

“I sit and talk to God; And he just laughs at my plans.”
Feel, Robbie Williams

“All for freedom and for pleasure; Nothing ever lasts forever”

With your hands on your head; Or on the trigger of your gun?”

Fantastic post. With a high risk of sounding mental. Ok I probably am, but it often seems a random lyrics playing on the radio or wafting from someone's car just sends me the message that I need at the moment.

"Sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when I was young
How come I'm never able to identify where it's coming from
I'd make a candle out of it if I ever found it
Try to sell it, never sell out of it, I'd probably only sell one

It'd be to my brother, 'cause we have the same nose
Same clothes homegrown a stone's throw from a creek we used to roam"

These lyrics from 21 Pilots made me tearful for weeks as they forced out the pain of my sister's emigration 9 years ago.

Love those lyrics! You could write a nice piece around that story and other lyrics which are meaningful to you. I think it could become a really great tag full of rich memories and significance.
To me, music is one of my best friends! Namaste. Upped and followed!

Great minds think alike, I did a blog on them a while ago. :)

Do another one ... please?!!
I think we need to broaden out the subjects a little and I LOVE my music - lyrics are such fun.
I have put two posts in the tag and will do more.
The company would be nice ...!

I will put it in the soup that is my mind and see what I come up with ;)

I like the tag you created! Interesting post @ebryans!

Thanks mate, I was hoping you would see that without too big a nudge - I hope that, rather than reply, others might post in the tag.

Your posts are always great man! I wanted to ask you how was that day when you was a whale? :D

Very interesting - it is actually amazing how few good content creators there are. I went through the Daily Tribune looking for something good that was undervalued - the amount of photos of really bland and ordinary composition with a one line comment like "do you like my home town?" ...
You start to see where the fake accounts are too.
Otherwise it was a great time - (My VP went down to about 38%!!) @htooms is really doing his best to restore some feel good factor into the platform which is brilliant.
It seems to be coming back ... though with one eye over the shoulder is my observation.
I managed to get to the people who are hurting - put it that way. (Forgot myself! School boy error) ...

Seems that you had a lot of work. I really like what @htooms started and I think it's a great initiative to help steemit users. You are always doing a great work @ebryans and I appreciate your enthusiasm to help those users! My VP went under 30% for a few days, and it's hard to recover it because I'm still upvoting a lot!

My VP got down to 15% once - it takes more time than you think to get it back. I reset everything and switched a lot to manual as a result. I enjoy voting and commenting with certain posts - filtering is the key and it is less easy to configure than I would like! Any tips welcome!
By the way, I really like your approach to stuff.
I would like you to come and see what I have set up - a mini think tank - you would be ideal and I think it would be a mutual value-add. I have several projects ready to go - I am sure you have a few too. I work with R&J a lot like you and they are part of my 'tank'!
Let me know. Namaste.

Hey! Good one! Love the idea. I love music too and have a wide range just like you.

Nice tag!

With a username like that, you have to love music - something of a homophone - by design or by default?
Thank you for stopping by and commenting so kindly.
Please create a post of your own and share your favourites. I really like exploring different musical tastes. UK, US and Australia are my influences having lived in each for a reasonable period.

Love music and lyrics...some faves:

"No idea is original, there's nothing new under the sun, it's never what you do, but how it's done" - Nas

"And the men who hold high places, must be the ones to start. Mold a new reality, closer to the heart" -Rush

What a wonderful article and collection of incredible songs and wordzzzzz @ebryans
It seems there are not a lot of people who are interested in music related posts. It's getting better though.

Great post! I'm a music lover and many topics are close to me here) Music accompanies me all my life, I work to music .. Sometimes music inspires new ideas)
