That Canon EF 100mm f2.8 macro is perfectly adequate portrait lens @fotomindo. Have one and wouldn't let it go :)

YouTube one of the best resources to learn, keep looking for video tutorials from photographers You like. And my suggestion is to shot as much as You can, keep practice. Good luck! :)
