The Dinner Guest or The Bear Essentials

My painting finished today. I'm often intrigued by animals and having a bear for dinner might have a different meaning in my world.

Did Leo DiCaprio finally make up with his old enemy?

That adds another onion skin to the layer of interpretation of this piece. I should have painted in the little dog that tries to protect him on Youtube :)

Olalaaa... Sooo beautifull piece ....
You are a master !!!

Congratulations

Thank you so much.

I love this. It's wonderful and intriguing. The light on the observer is beautiful. But obviously its the subject matter that speaks out. Why a bear? Reminds me a bit like having a meal with my dad. He may roar at any moment. Yet in this picture the bear looks like the guest.

I like to take a setting that s more traditional and add a bit of the absurd, a wild bear in this setting just makes me smile.

Hey Donna, did I already told you that your painting style is spectacular?

Thank you so much.

Nice work @donnadavisart
Resteemed :)

Oh, thank you so much.

This is really nice !! I love it :-)
Reminded me of oil paintings ,

Thank you so much, I just really wanted to play with light.

you did it nicely <3

Adds a whole new meaning to 'pass the potatoes, please'. Love the light and what I call brush strokes of this work. Almost looks paint by number at first (which I love), yet so quality and classic style. (Can you tell I have no art training or experience, past 8th grade ashtray?) With a big bear at the table too. Can't miss.

I love the absurd and I love the paint by number compliment!

Oh good. I was afraid calling your fine art as having a 'paint by number' sort of feel or look, might be a bit of an insult. But I love the quality those have. Not sure why, maybe so many days spent at thrift stores ( : I'm sure there is an old Dutch Master or other painter somewhere that used brush strokes of similar nature, but called them something more high-fallutin. Like pointerlyism or subtractional addition, or the more modern, phase dotmaatrical. But it all comes out the same in the end. It looks pretty darn good.

Thank you kind sir. Call it what you will, just don't call it late for supper, or so the saying goes. I like heavy brush strokes and a painterly look, that is for sure. I went through a period where I painted on large pieces of ply, leaving some of the wood exposed and I would break down the figures in colours of dark and light and it was very much like paint by number. I even called it my paint by number period, so there is some truth to what you say.
Although, I rather like 'pointerlyism' as I think of someone in a beret and paint covered smock pointing around a room telling the removers where to take and replace pieces of furniture. It always comes back to furniture with me, it might be a sickness.

I havent' heard that for awhile. A classic. Kind of like "take a cold hard tater and wait". I have a friend that used to blurt both of those to me, at the oddest moments.
I'd like to see your ply-art. Sounds very interesting. Still have pictures? And what a name you came up with!!
I think we need to do a bit of research into furniture here, it might end up being downright fascinating. Definitely not a sickness, maybe just a huge infatuation. Did you make card table forts as a youngster? I did a post on that eons ago...brought back some fond memories for many folks.
(Are you originally from England? Removers sounds classically English. At least in my tiny-world sphereoid).
