1st sunset of 2018
Today was exactly the case, when at first sight grey and quite not interesting sunset can suddenly turn into colors phantasmagoria
Was really unexpected. So here is first sunset (and first photoshoot) of 2018. Not a bad beginning of the new year
Shot near gates to the port of Klaipeda, Lithuania
Enjoy the scenery and a Happy New Year!

Sure!
What a really cool shot @axeman. The long exposure has really been used beautifully, the wave withdrawing motion has been captured so well, and I love the way the nearer edge of the wave fades, fades, fades and then suddenly fizzles out.
Wow though, looking further in, the reflection on the swollen water beyond looks like molten lava about to flow from a volcano, giving it an ethereal, apocalyptic glow.
This is a step beyond the standard long exposure shoreline photograph, nice one indeed, respect!
This is a game of trials, just making few shots on little different exposure and trying to catch wave in right position. Having quite a lot of experience you just begin to know when right time to press the button :) And then some postproduction of course with contrast and so on...
Yes mate, I've been a photographer since the late 70's, studied photography in the early 80's, and with much of my work in the street photography genre, but also in wildlife, travel and social documentary, I have a good sense of shutter button timing. From years in darkrooms to working with modern day high quality digital medium I have a good sense for post production.
It goes without saying you have those skills @axeman, what I was saying is that you've still produced a great shot despite those givens. ;)
Some impressive work you have over at 35 Photo btw. Love the one with the legs coming up from liquid, between the 2 screens. ;)
Yeah, thanks.. that was just a reflecting black tape on the floor :)
