Benefits of DTube Over YouTube

in #benefits6 years ago

DTube is a great device for mass collection and consolidation of various sorts of information through internet channels, and which is operatively modifiable by the user. It can be operated from clouds in own data centers or SaaS. Proficient working of firms requires a continuous flow of data which is generated in processes of their subsidiaries. Most probably, the data is automatically consolidated, appropriately aggregated and validated.

I'm trying to use DTube (as a consumer), but it still has one downside that's really hard to overcome.
Often I find a video I want to watch, and start watching it, then it just stops playing. I really want to watch it so I leave the tab open for a few hours, and it still doesn't load. I try it next day, and still stops at the same point in video.
Maybe more IPFS nodes will solve this, I'm not sure... but we definitely need to solve it before DTube can be usable for masses.

@mysho Agree with you. It has various issues they will need to solve. Hope they will do it soon.

I don't want to use DTube on my posts until the content can be imbedded. Who wants to take a long detour to DTube to watch a video in Steemit?

It is a stumbling block. And Busy.org's ugly blue screen masking DTube videos are another reason to avoid. It is heavy handed on their part.

Maybe embedding can be done already. I just can't figure it out.

Actually if you use busy.org as the front end the video embedding works. For example check out @joshsigurdson , he repeat same post in both YT and DT formats.
Steemit UI have some catch up to do.

@binaryflat Sure. Have been hearing several complaints about Dtube. Hope they will do something to improve the same.

Just to add... it is too easy to be too critical. I remember Android in the early days. What a mess, now it isn't far from iOS Apple quality.
Sorry DTube!

@binaryflat Agree with you. They are called the 'early beginnings'.

I recently found dtude and really like it. I think it could be set up a little more user friendly and is a little tricker to upload videos but all in all is the best alternative to youtube.

@sh-saimun Thanks and welcome for more posts.
