Benefits of smiling :)

in #benefit6 years ago

Laughing and smiling has a positive effect on our well-being, but as we make the transition from child to adult, we tend to lose the habit of practicing these behaviors. Here are the benefits of smiling so you never forget to practice daily 🙂

  • Neurotransmitters called endorphins are released when we smile.
These neurotransmitters are activated by the movements of the muscles of the face, which are interpreted by the brain, which in turn releases these chemicals. Endorphins are responsible for making us feel happy, and also help to lower stress levels. Even pretending to laugh or a smile works since the brain does not distinguish between the real or the false and interprets the position of the muscles of the face in the same way. This is known as the facial feedback hypothesis. The more the brain is stimulated to release this chemical the more we feel happier and more relaxed.

  • Endorphins make us feel happier and less stressed.
Endorphins also act as natural analgesics of the body. For those who suffer from chronic pain, laughing and smiling can be an effective treatment.

  • With the increase in endorphins cortisol, known as stress hormone, is reduced.
Cortisol is most active when we feel stressed or anxious and contributes to the unpleasant feelings we experience. By lowering cortisol levels we can reduce these negative feelings.

  • Laughter expands the lungs, stretches and relaxes the muscles of the body and stimulates homeostasis.
This exercises the body, restores the oxygen of the cells and allows us to obtain all the benefits of exercising the body.
  • Laugh helps to lighten emotions.
A good laugh can help to release emotions, especially the emotions that we tend to keep repressed inside. Everything looks better after a good laugh and life can be seen from a more positive perspective. Laughing and smiling have positive social implications.

  • Smiling makes you more attractive.
Smiling makes us seem more accessible. Interaction with other people becomes easier and more enjoyable when you share smiles and laughs, and these behaviors are contagious. Others will also feel better and this in turn will have a positive effect on our well-being.

  • A happy expression and a positive attitude will improve your life.
This is particularly true in difficult situations, such as during a job interview: a smiling, relaxed person indicates confidence and ability to cope with stressful situations. This will also be of benefit in our professions, in building healthy relationships with our colleagues and our employers.

  • It's a great exercise.
Laughter is one of the most effective and easy to do physical exercises. A smile sets in motion about 400 muscles, including some of the stomach. Studies reveal that twenty seconds of laughter is equivalent to three minutes of constant physical exercise. In addition, laughter reduces blood cholesterol.

  • Increase confidence.
A cheerful person is constantly seen as a safer person with high self-esteem, according to experts. In the social sphere, laughter is a powerful formula in the face of fear of ridicule and shyness.

  • Those who live longer live.
People with good humor usually live many more years and, in fact, are happier. A study published in 2010 in the journal Psychological Science revealed that the smile lengthens life. According to this study, people who do not smile live an average of 75 years, while those who smile fully live an average of 79 to 80 years.

You know, he smiles and laughs regularly. As we mentioned before, the brain does not know how to differentiate between a false and a real smile. Laughing more often will not only make us feel better, but it will also make us more likely to smile and laugh more spontaneously.

Spend more time with friends and family that make us feel good. Surrounding ourselves with fun-loving, optimistic and happy people will bring out their positive side; we will infect their joy and positivism unconsciously and we will end up imitating their behavior patterns.

Laugh is better!
