The council of Jerusalem: We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus. Acts 15:11

The Book of Acts recounts the reasons and events that led to the first council of the church held in Jerusalem.
After the martyrdom of Stephen, a new persecution against the first believers began in Jerusalem, and for this reason, the first followers of Jesus dispersed throughout the world, founding the Church of Antioch, where they received the name of Christians for the first time. Then Saul, also called Paul, was called by the Holy Spirit to make the first missionary journey, which brought with it the founding of numerous Churches in Asia.
It was then that began the question of whether pagans should accept the law of Moses or the faith in Jesus alone to receive salvation, and this led to the creation of two opposing sides. The first council of Jerusalem had as its main task to resolve this dispute without provoking a schism; and this council had four main figures, Peter, Paul, James, and Barnabas, who, filled with the holy spirit, took the first steps towards the founding of a universal institution.
Peter, as the leader of the Church, took the initiative giving the first speech of the Council, with his explanation Peter pointed out that the old law no longer had effects to guarantee the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and with these words, he explained the situation:
"He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith. So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear? We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus" Acts 15:9-11.
Finally, with the resolution of this council, the doors of the Church were opened for the conversion of pagans since the council decided that it was not necessary to first accept the law of Moses.
