Behind The Photo contest - Edition #6 The Monerada Photos and video.

On a vacation in Lima, Peru, I was surprised by a caravan of friends and myself, with lots of traditional costumes, lights, and music.

This caravan is in honor of the monerada, that is to say, the brown virgin who represents the prosperity of the shops and merchants and they pay tribute to her once a year so that she benefits them from a new year of prosperity.

The music is to the touch of the band and people dress allegorical costumes of animals such as gorillas and show sumptuousness, give candy, is a party atmosphere.

In my country Venezuela there is also a similar date where they pay tribute to Santa Barbara to generate wealth.

It was difficult to get photos because there was a lot of movement, lights and colored paper everywhere. The good thing is that the people were very nice and willing to pose for a photo.
