Inside the post you will find some shots made by me of the bees in the park behind the house. Enjoy the reading.

The importance of bees. The existence of the bee today is threatened due to the use of pesticides in agriculture and the presence of the "varroa distructor" mite, if it were not for modern beekeeping, in fact, the bee would have practically become extinct, given the almost total disappearance of the natural colonies.

The importance of bees: entomophilic pollination

Bees ensure pollination. As well as flies, bees, butterflies and beetles are all pollinating insects.
The bees feed on the nectar present in the flowers and, thanks to their hairy body, cover themselves with flower pollen. In moving from one flower to another, bees carry pollen and thus favor the reproductive process of plants. This type of pollination is called entomophilous, while that guaranteed by the wind is called anemophilous. There are two types of bees: wild and domestic.

Honey bees produce honey and store it so that we too can benefit from it.
Wild bees, on the other hand, produce honey solely and exclusively for their own sustenance and do not accumulate stocks.
Wild bees are the most important pollinating insects and determine, with their travels from one flower to another, a considerable genetic variability in the plants visited.

Unfortunately, in recent years, it has become evident that wild bees are in danger. Their numbers are decreasing for various reasons - a 40% decline. The main threats to the life of bees are the disappearance of their natural habitats, the use of pesticides in agriculture, diseases and parasites that can infect them and climate change.
Based on what has been said previously on the concept of biodiversity, it will become clear how important these insects are and the negative effects of their reduction.

Failure to pollinate flowers and lower plant production

The magazine "Science", in February 2013, published a study which emphasizes how failure to pollinate flowers by wild insects such as bees results in a lower production of plants commonly consumed in human nutrition; the importance of bees has also become evident with the famous documentary more than honey which shows that in China they have managed to do pollination by hand due to the absence of bees or pollinating insects.
