Third Street Brewing Company ESB – Entry for #BeerSaturday Contest
Third Street Brewing Company is a new craft brewery in Farmville, Virginia and I’m one of the founding investors in the business. We are preparing for our preliminary opening on September 15. The three beers on tap will be ESB, IPA, and Amber Ale.
The first batch to finish is the Extra Special Bitter (ESB), an English style ale that is malty with a modest hop flavor.
Beer | ESB Codename 001 |
---|---|
Brewery | Third Street Brewing Company |
Location | Farmville, Virginia |
Stats | 5.2 % ABV, 45 IBU, 13.4 OG, 3.6 FG |
Appearance | Bright amber with copper highlights |
Aroma | Malty with a faint hop aroma |
Flavor | Big time nutty malt flavors up front backed up with East Kent Golding hop character and a bracing bitter finish |
Body, Mouthfeel, Carbonation | Smooth, chewy mouthfeel, medium carbonation |
The tasting took place in the brewery. You can see a description of the brewing process and some pictures of the brewery in this post.
On this particular evening the brewery owner invited pair of Episcopal priests to perform a blessing on the new enterprise. Rev. Elaine Tola (on right) and Rev. Sheri Winesett wrote this brewery blessing just for us, which was very nice of them. The put a lot of thought into the program and clearly had a good time working on it.
The Blessing of the Entrance
"Give beer to him who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress."
The Blessing of the Bar and Beer Garden
The Blessing of the Brewing Equipment
The crazy purple color is from a set of lights that are supposed to be hooked up to the sound system.
The Blessing of Beer
"Behold, I am sending you grain, wine, oil and you will be satisfied."
The Blessing of the Business
Profit is a sure thing now.

Woooow, what a nice post. We had to update the rules as we try to find a fair model to win the challenge.
Thanks for using the #BeerSaturday Tag

I did put a comment and link into this weeks steem beersaturday challenge post. May the best post win.
Cheers to the participants, may you drink in health, live in joy, and have a beer to feel the joy.
Thanks. We are all very happy with the way that the project is working out.
It the dream to (part) own a brewery - best of luck with the new venture. I also love that you live in a town called Farmville - it makes me think of that mobile phone game. Looks like a solid ESB, nice creamy head, good colour, I'm impressed.
Farmville is nice place. The only problem with mobile game association is having your phone autocorrect Farmville to FarmVille.
I like the ESB style and this is good example. It is done with 100% UK malt and a very well-behaved English strain of yeast. I think that any ESB aficionado would be pleased.
A blessed brew! You could really advertise that. They like blessing wine at my place. Times are changing! ,😀 The color looks appealing!
Blessed brew is right. We don't have a name for this beer yet so there might be a way to work that in. The concept is to name the beers with road or street related names to continue the Third Street theme. Maybe we could come up with a three-word name in the form of E___________ S____________ B____________ that has a road theme and incorporates the blessing somehow.
I will gladly pay a 10 SBD bounty to anyone who makes a naming suggestion that is accepted by the other brewery founders.
Anyone can make a suggestion; just include it in a comment on this post. I will compile the results and submit them to the founders in seven days.
Hmmm not an easy job.... let's brainstorm a bit
I like the idea with the blessing so God beer or mayby "God's choise of beer"is the first what comes to my thirsty mind. playing with ESB you might get something like BleSed BeEr where the letters are in capitals. But this looks for my a bit cryptic
The Blessed Choise comes next or if you mix my location into it we go to East Belgium Beer
So let's try "every single blessing" is what you taste in our damn good beer!
no more battery in my mind - maybe something more tomorrow.
ESB and street related - I want to say E Street Band - you might have some copyright issues though, or make friends with The Boss.
