Happy first year, dear #beersaturday! That’s really a lot of time. Summer is here so...

My choose is very summery! I picked a beer from a local brewery... HILLS craft brewery, if you remember my post about their Helles Rauch. This time, a beer that I have considered, whether to buy a couple of times, but I’ve never thought it was a right time for it... just because it was “summer” one. But with the rising outside temperatures I considered, that this week will be the best week to give it a try. And here it is!

Yeah, the Hills brewery is just a craft brewery, that brews somehow ordinary German beers, brewed under the Reinheitsgebot (the German beer law from 1516) and nothing really special about them. And these beers may be twice as peicey as the German beers, already proven their qualities and available on the market today. You may really ask yourself “why should I buy this beer and not that “German” one?”, but the guys from the brewery definitely know what they are doing, and really make a decent product. And this product really worths buying.

This week I chose their Summer Blanche beer. It is 3.8% of alcohol and this really seems like a very weak and watery beer, but after all we are already experiencing the hot days of the year, so why not try something different and lighter?

One of my first impressions about this beer was, that it is heavily carbonated and after pouring it in glass it really made a thick and huge head! And that head really stayed till the finish of the beer. After pouring, it presented some very nice lively aroma to me, not a hoppy one, but somehow a fresh malt, wheat malt, and nothing heavy at all.

Well, after tasting, it was a very light beer indeed. And the wheat malts, as stated on the label was really there, light and somehow bready - a very distinctive characteristic of wheat beers, generally. So the summer feeling? Right on spot.

In the mouth it really isn’t something special. Just a regular, perfectly brewed Weiss beer. Even the character, given by the yeast was somewhat neutral, and didn’t bear all of the esters of German Weiss beer. Yup, there definitely were some clove hints, but not bananas at all. I gues their initial intent was to ferment the beer in lower degrees in order to achieve more neutral character.

The head was really awesome. And the beer was definitely into style(the Summer Blanche one ) and very well presented.
Maybe some people really don’t like the banana to overwhelm in their beer, but others would love to have some neutral character in their glass, just as it is in our case. Anyway, the beer is really good. And the guys from the brewery probably wanted this beer not to be confused with their weizen, which I will soon try (maybe!?!), so that’s why they have chosen a more neutral yeast character for this one. And this beer is definitely a good one, but... nothing really special.

After my weird photo adjustments and rotations (mainly rotations) I’m ready to sleep. Just can’t stand anymore, so...
Good night fellows. And have a nice week!

Nice job as usual... The picture are spot on, particularly the one with the bottle 45 degrees.... Very clever..

great pictures

they remind me to the "Adelaide hills"

Wow, that’s interesting! Do the foam of the beer reminds you so? Or just the styling of the bottle?
