Tipples beer review #115 Orval (Bel)
As you may remember I cellar some beers to see how they change over time, this is one of those beers.
It is exactly 5 years old, so it seemed apt to drink it today.
So how was it?.....
Ethanol smell on openning, which is disconcerting.
A large rocky but not dense head. And high carbonation.
More yeast smells in the glass. Bread with just a hint of alcohol.
Takes a few minutes for the carbonation to settle but then you are left with a slightly sweet but a smidge hollow Belgian pale ale.
I think I've tried these at amount 6 month intervals, and it's getting better with time, I'm curious to see where this ends up.
