Tipple Beer Review #105 - Drinking Christmas Presents - A Sour Experience

So as part of our Christmas stocking presents to each other myself and my girlfriend buy each other a can of craft beer, all secret like, trying to guess what the other wants. It is quite cute that we choose a sour beer for each other, even cuter that we agreed to share them, which means I get two (half) Christmas beers instead of one.

First up is Amanecer Mexicano from Magic Rock which is a lime hibiscus and chilli gose. Which I choose for Jord. For those not in the know a Gose is a sour type beer made with fruit so this should be light in body and alcohol but quite complex and a bit fruity.

It's a great Christmas Red, and smells of cinnamon. The chilli is not there which I'm thankful for, there is a nice aftertaste of lime, which is really interesting, kind of like the refreshing of a Corona, but not with the shit beerness of a Corona. Its really well balanced, nice a complex and super summer refreshing.

Co conspirators, The froth, The editor passionfruit and guava hoppy sour.

I have no idea how you would order this in a bar, as a collboration brew it has about eight names - marketing fail 101. Anyway Co-Consirators are a Brewery, The Froth is a craft beer zine here in Melbourne Australia, this was a beer made to celebrate this magazine and the lady behind it (The editor). Sours are so hot right now it makes sense that they would make one as they keep up with the trends.

It's a pretty standard sour, nice and light and refreshing, the guava is coming through, nit sure the passionfruit is coming through but there is some non descript tartness. Not a bad choice at all.
