Advent Beer Calendar - Days 1 to 4 at #Beersaturday #130

In what is becoming an annual tradition I buy a beer can Advent calendar called Canvent from a local beer retailer in Melbourne, Australia called Carwyn Cellars it is 24 beers, all Australian, All Craft, all in cans all never before released brewed specially for this. Each 4 days I'm going to tell you about them. Oh and for the Northern Hemisphere people, reset your minds, it's hot down here for Christmas so don't expect too many malt bombs.

Here is the box of beers:

Beer 1
Keep the Change from Mr Banks Brewing - Brewery from Melbourne Australia - This is a Citra dry hopped IPA and straight from the pour it smells amazing. Very well balanced, very drinkable. It's juicy and smooth and a great way to start advent - only 23 cans to go

Beer 2
Mismatch Brewing Boston Sour. Brewery from South Australia - A whiskey Sour Berliner Weisse. Whiskey Sours are one of my favorite cocktails so a little squell was heard when we opened this. It didn't disappoint - It's a stunning beer sweet and almost lactosey could have touched a barrel as there is hint of wood, maybe some whiskey barrels. on the front of the sip giving away to a nice tang - very drinkable, very likeable. Hope it gets a mainstream release - it should.

Beer 3
Quiet Deeds Open on December 3rd. Quiet Deeds are based in Melbourne Australia - This is very meta with the naming - in the mould of Stone's Drink by naming of IPAs. This is a hazy ipa which has Cashmere Cyro and Simcoe hops, Experimental hops being a bit of a theme of these one off beers. The issue with this is that it's not really hazy and perhaps more unusual for a Hazy IPA it isn't fruity, but rather more a old skool west coast pine bomb a WCIPA maybe?

Beer 4
Bad Sheperd - Smashable SMaAH IPL.
Bad Sheaperd are based in Melbourne, Australia
This looks like a cat ran over the keyboard - For those not in the know SMaSH mean Single Malt And Single Hop, a way to experiment. IPL is a hopped up lager, the malt is Voyager atlas which is meant to be grassy and the hop is Sabro, supposed coconut, tangerine and mint. It should be interesting, it kind of isn't, not really doing much for me, feels a bit thin. Oh Well, there is always day five.
