I Need A Beer

After a summer of cider and what with the weather now cooling I was looking forward to a beer. It's been a long time. I live in Britain and we have lots of European beers on the market to choose from here, as well as others from around the globe. One of my favourites is a brand called Amstel, which is a Dutch beer. I love the stuff. And I want one but I can't have one.

It's a bitch. Beer is very important for many people, especially us men. It is universally understood that a man must have a beer when he needs one. To deny me my right to a beer is quite frankly violating my human rights. So you can imagine the turmoil I am in right now.

I can see the bottle right now. It's teasing me. It wants me as much as I want it. But this very special relationship is not going to happen, sadly. It could though, I could make it happen right now but I would be a fool. Maybe it's worth it. You tell me.

Yes that's right you see a bottle of Metronidazole. This is the third party in this fraught relationship, and it is the reason I am denied my beer. If I drink my Amstel then I throw it all back up afterwards. This is the side effect of Metronidazole. No alcohol. Surely this is illegal! Damn it.

Don't get me wrong Miss. Metronidazole is a good woman. She means well and she does a good job. I respect her a lot. She will kiss my tooth infection better. But I need a beer. I really need a beer. This is an impossible quandry. Do I enjoy a beer and then pay the price, or do I try holding out to complete the course of Metronidazole and then have a beer and not throw up?
