Saugatuck Brewing - Kalamazoo Location

Saugatuck Brewing is one if the more we’ll established breweries in Michigan. It’s not a Founders or Bells, but it’s definitely in the top 25 breweries in the state. The original location is in Saugatuck, Mi. The did however acquire a location in Kalamazoo, Mi. The bought the failing Gonzo Brewing.

I decided to go check out this location to see if it lived up to the quality of the original location. The breweries location is a little odd, but nothing too out of the ordinary. The inside is very comfortable with kids if wooden tables. It’s a modern, industrial theme with a sprawling bar. We open for a larger table. They had plenty of board games so we played some games and enjoined some good beer and food.

I ended up getting a flight. It was nice to see they had kept some of the beer recipes they bought. They had plenty of their staples from the original location so I had no complaints. I need up getting a cider, IPAs, stouts and a barley wine. My favorite was the heavier ABV barley wine. It had a haven’t malt and boozy flavor they warmed me up a bit.

We ended up staying for a couple of hours. I finished the night with a Neapolitan stout which is one of my favorite beers by them. Like the sign says here’s to happy this location did not disappoint. I will definitely be back our entire group enjoyed the beer, food and their friendly staff.
