3rd and Lager
When traveling it’s always good to see beer from your hike state. I love Founders Brewing Co and 3rd and Lager was on tap at a local spot in northern Chicago. It was weird I had not heard of this beer. Doing some research I found out that this beer was specifically brewed for certain chain restaurant. I was put off by this, but came to the realization that chain restaurants might actually want good beer so it’s a good alternative to the mega beverage company options.
3rd and Lager was light, crisp and refreshing. The color was golden with a nice bubbly white head. The aroma was crisp with notes of malt and hope. The taste was slight spicy with a malt forward flavor. The mouthfeel was light with a medium amount of carbonation. Overall, it was a solid alternative to a macro beer.
