[Craft Beer Blog] 精釀啤酒 - 被邀請參加試新酒🍺 Invitation of new arrival beer tasting🍺

in #beersaturday7 years ago

Although, I just participated in the local home brewing competition as a beer judge at the beginning of December, those serious judging experience was totally different with the experience of tasting with beer geeks casually. This time, I was invited by a Hong Kong local craft beer supplier, Hop Leaf HK to engage in a new releasing beer tasting with other beer geeks and beer bloggers. Such a honor and pleasure!

若果將這些精釀品飲經驗當作知識的收集與分享,那麼當晚品飲的瑞典 Beerbliotek(bibliotek在瑞典語解作圖書館)酒廠的出品就是相當之有喻意。

We tasted 8 different beers from the Beerbliotek Brewery which is located in Gothenburg, Sweden. In Swedish, Bibliotek means library, it is funny that if we consider beers as books and beer tables as reading table. But probably, the most common thing that beer and library shared is exactly SHARING. Sharing knowledge, sharing good beer!

Beerbliotek is using cans as the beer containers which is quite popular in Europe and US. But in Hong Kong or even Asia, drinkers are still waiting for education. Lots of can beers would focus a lot on the label design as it is the primary way to attract the customer. Of course, Beerbliotek is also demonstrating their unique design, a color pattern spectrum, which is classic to represent the Scandinavian art. Simple, comfortable and functional.

I Don't Want to Change the World #193 IPA、Colonial Hipster #192 IPA、HIP HOP#049 IPA。

One of the co-funder, branding and marketing manager Darryl De Necker has mentioned in their website blog that they would like to use a colour pattern spectrum to associate with all of our beers, styles and flavours. Thus, it is all about the connection of design and branding. For example, Pale Ales are light blue including Bobek Citra #05 APA and Spoiler Alert #182 Modern Pale Ale. IPA are green like I Don't Want to Change the World #193 IPA, Colonial Hipster #192 IPA and HIP HOP#049 IPA. It is simplicity instead of minimalism; it is humanity instead of merely colorful. It is an art philosphy.

I Don't Want to Change the World #193 IPA。

I quite appreciated Spoiler Alert #182 Modern Pale Ale and I Don't Want to Change the World #193 IPA. The first one was quite hoppy with the hints of piny, grassy, floral and pineapple that might be from Mosaic/Simcoe hops? The latter one was a typical west coast style IPA. Very fruity like melon, citrus, apricot and a bit candy like aroma. Those were quite balance. Also, Colonial Hipster #192 IPA was a good try of NEIPA.

Overall, Beerbliotek beers are balanced instead of impressive. In this winter with lots of stout, porter, barley wine or imperial xx, those refreshing medium-light beer will be a good choice. Of course, other tasted winter beers were very very amazing!!!!

I do like those can design, and some of the descriptions of beers are interesting. I've never heard of the brewery, but maybe if they have got as far a Hong Kong the boat may continue and we'll get them in Australia.

HK is quite lucky that as a middle point of US, Europe and Australia. Of course, I think u must get lots of good beer in Australia too :)
