Lough Gill Brewing Co's Heino weiser IPA

A sunny beer to think back on

So it's lashing rain in little old Ireland at the moment and the recent heat wave is a distant memory.

Well I'm going to take a little trip back a few weeks and review this beer I had in my back garden after a busy day at work. There's something so sweet about an ice cold beer and a cloudless blue sky.

So this week's beer of the week is Lough Gill Brewing Co's Heino weiser IPA

The Info

Brewery: Lough Gill Brewing Company
ABV:5.5%
Bottle: 500ml
What they say: Lough Gill Heino Weiser displays a light orange color, serious aroma and powerful hop notes, this crushable IPA will quench your thirst like no other.

The verdict

This one was enjoyed outdoors, so straight away it was off to a good start. Blue skies and just in from work, what a perfect time for a nice cool brew. It wasn't bad at all, no world beater by any stretch of the imagination, but a decent solid IPA, with enough flavour going on. Now I wouldn't be banging down the door of the Offie to get some more, but I'd drink it again.

The pour revealed a typical copper coloured beer, with a bit of a disappointing head, in that it disappeared quickly, but in fairness the beer disappeared quickly too, such was my thirst :o)

The flavours that came through were pine, orange, biscuit, light toffee and distinctly malty. It had an oily mouthfeel, with light to medium carbonation.

Overall, a little too malty for an IPA, but certainly drinkable.

The Grade

2.75/5

Peace Out

Definitely a very interesting and intriguing name... WOW! Heino Weiss Crushable IPA... I'm wondering what this crushable stands for. Would be very interesting choice to try.

Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the support, the definition I found for crushable is "An easygoing, super-drinkable beer. These are well-balanced beers with low-to-medium alcohol by volume (ABV) but tons of flavor that make you want to go back for more again and again." So I guess it is another way of saying a session IPA... The name is a two fingered salute to the big beer companies I think..

Crazy stuff! Thanks for the info :)
