Beer: Sint-Jan (10%ABV)
Tonight, I felt like drinking a beer I would more ordinarily associate with winter, summer has however been terrible here, with mostly rain and no appreciable heat, so why not have a wintery beer :D
Sint-jan, a beer from the artisanal Loterbol Brewery in the Belgian city of Diest is a hefty dark beer. Full bodied, the nose is sweet and has a warm inviting smell. The flavour is fullbodied, with a body indicative of the high ABV. Notes of licorice and dark malts are present.
The taste lingers for a long time, sweetish but not cloyingly so. A delicious beer, but a whopper. Meant to be drank slowly over a longer period, and not thrown back to quaff thirst
Cheers!
