Great apero beer. “Oude Geuze Boon”

in #beer9 years ago

This Belgian beer is made in Lembeek(near Brussels). It’s a unsweetened and unfiltered beer made of 60% malt and 40% wheat matured on oak.

So this special beer is made with “Lambiek”(name coming from the village Lembeek) which is a grain and malt mixture that undergoes a spontanious fermentation of yeasts through air.

Geuze isn’t brewed like other beer but “gestoken” translated sticked, which actually means that the beer was mixed.

Quite a complicated proces...

They used to bottle this beer in Champagne bottles because they could hold the pressure of the fermentation in the bottle.

A normal bottle would just explode.😏

Today you can also buy it in normal beer bottles.

I love to present this beer in my restaurant as an aperitif. Because of it’s fresh, fruity and citrusy taste.

Not for everyone, it tastes a bit sour. Nothing you expect from a normal beer. But i learned to love it.

Have a great one Steemians and remember to keep it juicy! 😉

I've not tried this but I love a good sour beer, and the Belgians do them better than anyone - going to have to search this out.

Let me know if you tried it. Cheers man
