Some beers I tried at "La Brassicole"

in #beer6 years ago

Last week, I made a Steepshot post with a beer. I posted that because an event called "La Brassicole" took place in my university city. I study in Louvain-la-Neuve, in Belgium which is a city built just for the university. So it's a city filled with students even tough more and more people are coming to live here.

A lot of events take place during the year and of course, a lot of them are about beers (we are Belgians, we have a reputation to keep :p). Last week was "La Brassicole". This is an event where about fifteen breweries come to show their beers. You can try a lot of different beers because they serve them in small glasses of 12.5 cl. Last Thursday I tried those 5 beers. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures so all the pictures in this post are from the app Untappd, an app to check the beers you drink (I will do a post about it soon).

First beer: Rebel Local from Brouwerij 't Verzet

This is a blond beer and more precisely a Belgian IPA. I personally prefer blond beers and I often drink this type of beer even if I should try other things. Even if there is nothing spectacular, it's a really good beer and I recommend it to all blond beer lovers!

Second beer: Oud Bruin from Brouwerij 't Verzet

This beer is from the same brewery. I tried this one because a friend recommended it to me. It's a beer completely different. It's difficult to describe but I would say that the beer is a bit sour and a bit fruity at the same time. I read the description of it and they say we can feel the aromas of green apple, red fruits and oak.

Third beer: La Houppe from L'échasse brewery

La Houppe is a more known beer in Belgium. You can find it in a supermarket but I never tried it so I gave it a try at this event. It's a good beer but not my favorite style. One beer like this is enough for me. This is a Belgian strong golden ale and you can see it by its color.

Fourth beer: La Petite Soeur from Valduc brewery

This is again a completely different beer. This a white beer. We took this because it was very hot last week and a fresh white beer is more refreshing. Even if the label and the name is interesting I didn't find anything special to this beer. It's just a white beer and nothing more.

Fifth beer: Sainte Nitouche Blanche from De La Croix brewery

Because we were disappointed by the last white beer we decided to take another one like that. So this is again a white beer but this one was way more interesting. It tasted not like every other white beer. I read the details of this beer and apparently it tastes different because the aroma and flavor come from the yeast and hops and not from coriandre and curaçao like most Belgian wheat beers.

Let me know in the comments if you like post about beers like this one. I don't say I drink beers every day but enough to write about it ;)
