My last name is Wismer, and my brother and I are convinced that the Widmer brothers are long-lost relatives.
The difference is, that when their great-great grandparent (my great-great uncle I believe), came to America, he had a cold.. When he told the immigration official his name, it sounded like Wid-mer when he said Wis-mer, because of his plugged sinuses... :p
