European Beer of the Day | Starij Melnik iz bochonka Mjagkor | Europäisches Bier des Tages

Today I want to share a Russian beer with you that you can buy at the German supermarket chain EDEKA. If I understand the bottle correctly it is called “Starij Melnik iz bochonka Mjagkor”. It is a Pale Lager from Moscow. The bottle is filled with 0,5 l of beer and the alcohol is set at 4,3 %. I tried to find some information about the beer but it was hard to find anything that is not written in Russian. I believe that it belongs to the brand Pivovar Moskva that belongs to the Russian branch of the Turkish Group Anadolu Efes. At least you can find it in the Efes Wikipedia article where it is also mentioned that the famous German brewery Warsteiner gets its beer for Russia produced by Efes.

Liebe Bierfreunde auf Steemit! Heute möchte ich euch ein Bier zeigen, welches man bei EDEKA kaufen kann. Wenn ich die Aufschrift auf der Flasche richtig verstehe, heißt es „Starij Melnik iz bochonka Mjagkor“. Es handelt sich dabei um ein helles Lagerbier aus Moskau. Ich glaube nicht, dass es als ein Pils gelten soll, ich kann mich allerdings irren. In der ungewöhnlich geformten Flasche finden sich sehr gewöhnliche 0,5 l mit 4,3 % Alkohol. Wenn ich alles richtig sehe, handelt es sich hierbei um ein Bier der Marke Pivovar Moskva, welche zum russischen Ableger der türkischen Anadolu Efes Gruppe gehört. Was ich bisher nicht wusste, ist, dass Warsteiner sein Bier für Russland ebenfalls durch Efes produzieren lässt. 

If you look here it gets a rating that is a little bit harsh for me. Of course the beer is not groundbreaking but at least OK. But I'm not the even sure that this is the same beer. The name is the same but the design is a different one and it has more alcohol in it. If somebody knows more let me know about it. 

Ich halte die Bewertungen, die ich auf dieser Seite gesehen habe für ein wenig hart. Natürlich ist das Bier kein Überflieger, aber ich halte es doch durchaus für OK. Ich hoffe, hierbei handelt es sich auch um das richtige Bier. Der Name ist der gleiche, aber das Design und der Alkoholgehalt sehen anders aus. Wenn jemand mehr weiß, lasst es mich wissen.

I would describe the taste as herbal with a touch of grainlike malt. What I really like about the beer is the form of the bottle. ;)

Den Geschmack würde ich als herb und leicht getreidig beschreiben. Was mir allerdings am meisten an diesem Bier gefällt ist die Gestalt der Flasche. ;)
