Beer Cocktails Anyone?

OK guys, I'm going to do something a little insane this week for #BeerSaturday. I'm going to try out some beer cocktails!

This has been inspired by the very strange Doctor's Orders Tonic Ale that I drank while in Adelaide. You can read about it in this post. The brewer recommended that the beer be used as a mixer with gin which I consider blasphemy. But It did get me thinking what other things people mix with beer.

Many of you will already know about the Shandy which is simply beer with lemonade in equal parts. However I've now discovered a bizarre range of cocktails that include beer.

The Michelada

This is beer with tomato juice and lime. It's also recommended that you add some form of spice such as hot sauce or pepper. The cocktail is essentially a Bloody Mary but with beer instead.

This one is definitely on my list to try, but not because I think I'll enjoy it. It's on the list for hilarity reasons.

The Black Velvet

This one is as simple as it gets. It's just Guiness with Champagne. I'm thinking of doing a Brown Velvet version since all I have in my fridge is Coopers Pale Ale and I want to finish that before I go out and buy more beer.

The Mimosa

I'm starting to think the people that created these cocktails were lacking in creativity. This cocktail is quite simply beer, champagne and orange juice. I'm going to include this one on my list as well. I need a bit of citrus in my life right now.

And finally, The Beergarita

I'm sure you can work out what's in that one. I don't think I can bring myself to make this one.

Do you know of any other beer cocktails that I should put on my list? I plan on doing 2 or 3 cocktails and writing a review for each of them.

My only limitation is that there will only be one type of beer consumed during this event. And that's the only beer in my fridge right now - Coopers Pale Ale.
