Beer Meets Science (Part 1)
When brewing my own beers, I have long purchased yeasts from companies. Well, no more!!
Recently i have started trying to isolate my own wild yeasts. Here are some highlights of my efforts so far...
- Blueberries in a starter for a week. you can see bubbles and it smells nicely (alcohol). its the first time i have seen such activity in a small vessel (tube).
Right, now i want to know whether the fermenting starter can be used to start a larger scale batch (400 ml). time to throw it in a bottle....
Right, a swing top bottle (sterilised) with a punctured glove above. Hopefully this will start to ferment and give me some idea on whether this is anything drinkable... I suppose one can call it the typical friday afternoon experiment.
More to come soon, watch this space!!

Well, good luck. As hobby-distiller let me warn you - DO not trust random trial-and-error-yeast breeding results. Ther are the good ones and the other ones...
thanks for that advice! Yes, i have seen my share of yeasts and other fungi with not-so-much-desired traits...more on that may follow...
Nice one!
haha the falcon looks so familiar XDDD
Dont get drunk in lab XDD
No worries. Have a good sniff at best! To be honest, drinking from a falcon tube has not so much appeal...
