Nomad are Sydney based but head Brewer originally worked with Leonardo De Vincenzo at the excellent Italian brewery - Birra de borgo. The brwery aims to take the knowledge learnt in italy and combine it with Australian only ingredients. This beer is pretty much the embodiment of this.

This beer is Inspired by Nutella but there is no Nutella in it, rather the chocolate comes from the malt backbone, a bit of lactose to give it a sweetness a slight milky hint. Then replace the hazelnuts with roasted wattleseeds which is a very very Australian ingredient. So like the brewery this is Italy and Australian all together.

A very dark brew showing great head, in the amazing stout glasses I own

It' a Jet black beer with a solid creamy head. It smells more smokey and burnt than I was expecting. It has the great silky mouthfeel that milk stouts should have.

It's nowhere near as sweet as I expected, it is interesting. There is a biteyness to it which is more like a standard stout than a sweet one. It makes it a perfect beer for a cold winter's night, which seems apt given it's winter here and about 10 degrees each day.

The can is like a moody bass player out of focus in the back of the band photo

All in all a very good beer. For all the effort and the weird ingredients they have ended up with something not a gimmicky as you might think, a pretty standard stout, a really good one, but standard just the same.
