Tipples Beer Review #68 - Funk Estate Cosmic Hustle (NZ)

Funk Estate are a brewery out of New Zealand, they rarely make a misstep, they specialise in very funky soul music inspired can designs, or which Cosmic Hustle is no exception, and they are pretty darn good at Sour beers. - Cosmic hustle is a strawberry yoghurt sour.

Yoghurt in beer - it isn't as weird as it sounds, when you sour a beer you need some bacteria, preferably something you can control, so it's not that unusual to take yoghurt as the base bacteria, I've even heard of people using Yakult, beer for everybody, every day.

This is an energetic little things, waves of bubbles working their way through this like Paula Abdul was in to do the choreography. I mean check out those waves..

The taste is refreshing, not super sour, it's more of a gentle, and this going to sound counterintuitive, sweet. There is a slight hint of strawberry in the nose and at the back of the taste, but it's that lolly artificial strawberry taste, rather than fresh strawberries, or maybe that's the yoghurt and strawberry combining reminding me of strawberry and cream lollies.

It a very nice beer, I'm not convinced I could have more than one, but one was pretty good.
