Tipples Beer Review #27 - Stone Brewing Neapolitan Dynamite Stout (USA)

Tonight we try Stone Neapolitan Dynamite, that's right a beer named after everyone favourite movie from 13 years ago, (13 years now you feel old right?). This is a a recipe from a homebrew comp winner in comp that Stone brewing, one of THE breweries in the USA run, so really it's a collaboration between the winners, Paul Bischeri & Patrick Martinez, Stone and Abnormal brewing, if that wasn't confusing enough it's a stout with vanilla, strawberries, chocolate and coffee.

It pours black, is a big frothy dense head of dark brown which towards the end pours like melted ice cream.

The smell is not sweet it's the smell of wet coffee which concerns me quite a bit as it a flavour I don't like in beer.

The mouthfell is silky without being full, the first sip is certainly dominated by coffee.

As you work through it other flavours start coming through, the chocolate first, and even a hint of strawberries.

Quite good, but at the end of the day would be a better beer without the coffee in it and if it was a touch sweeter. Given Neapolitan Ice cream doesn't have coffee in it, neither should this beer, but then again every tub of Neapolitan ice cream I've ever encountered was just the strawberry bit left over, which would be hard to do in a beer.

Where can I get it? If you are in the US it won't be hard, likewise in Australia and Stone have opened a brewery in Berlin so it Europe shouldn't be an issue either.
